"Out on Deep Water" is the first gay romance novel released
by author Noah Reilly. In this first work, Noah explores issues around
dating between two men and all of the people that help to shape their
relationship, especially life as a gay man growing up in the South. Half of
the book takes place in Alabama. The later half of the novel takes place on
their cruise to various ports in the western Caribbean. It is a charming
journey for two men who love each other but face constant struggles that
most gay men face.
Shawn and Keith are two mature, attractive, secure, successful and healthy
adult men. Neither of them, however, seems to be able to find a boyfriend
with whom to share his life – all of the good times and all of the bad times.
They themselves have dated off and on at a distance for years now, but their
own relationship has always fallen short of being a fully committed
relationship. They have both decided though to at least pursue the
possibility that perhaps they are looking for each other and no one else. So
they made a verbal agreement between themselves (their contract) and booked a
cruise.
For seven days, they will sail from Galveston on the coast of Texas to Costa
Maya on the east coast of Mexico to the impoverished Belize City in Belize to
the island nation of Grand Cayman back to Cozumel in Mexico and then finally
back to Texas on a thirty-five hundred passenger cruise ship that sports all
of the cruise industry’s latest and greatest amenities. Along the way, they
will share their voyage with some wonderful people and create some wonderful
memories like snorkeling with sting rays in Sting
Ray City
and scouting out new musical talent at the cruise ship’s talent contest and
sailing through the air high over thick jungle canopies.
After all of their time sailing around the western Caribbean
between four different countries and five different cities, will Shawn and
Keith realize that they are right for each other? Will they find that one
true boyfriend whom they have been searching for and longing for the longest
time has been closer than they thought? Take the cruise. Follow them across
the Gulf of Mexico to see if true love can stay afloat… or if it even has a
chance.
